The South Madison Farmers' Market, in partnership with the City of Madison and Park Street Partners, has been awarded a grant from the Project for Public Spaces in New York City. Funding for the grant was provided by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
During the 2006 season, the grant was used establish a market board, develop a marketing campaign, purchase equipment and furniture (including an Electronic Benefit Terminal (EBT)), develop a full program of events and activities, develop a youth mentoring program, and add a third market day, Thursdays, at a new location, The Villager.
During the 2007 season, the grant is being to attract more customers to the Thursday market, upgrade the market website, to purchase seeds and equipment for the mentor program, and to improve access and usage of the EBT machine.
